Part-time (3-4 days/week)

This role is a key role for our organization, supporting the accounting and payroll functions. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Accounting Support
  • Customer set up, management, etc.
  • Customer billing
  • Enter vendor invoices, ensure invoices match POs/work orders
  • Manage payables
  • Manage accounts receivables, follow up with customers for payment
  • Collect and process payments, prepare bank deposits
  • Complete Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Manage cashflow
  • Calculate and prepare HST submissions
  • Complete expense reports
  • Process entries up to Trial Balance level
  1. Payroll Support
  • Track and manage payroll, including vacation, statutory holiday, taxable benefits and other deductions
  • Calculate and process CRA submissions, WSIB, Other
  • Prepare annual T4s and Records of Employment as required
  1. Reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting
  • Track and report on job profitability
  • Truck costs
  1. General Administration and Office Support
  • Keep all information and records confidential
  • Keep computers and office equipment running
  • Oversee security of premises; open and lock-up all doors and manage alarm system
  • Order marketing and other materials
  • Manage vendors and contracts
  • Look for continuous improvements to processes and cost opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of Quickbooks Online
  • College diploma or university degree in bookkeeping or accounting
  • Professional manner and appearance
  • Extremely well organized, with process orientation
  • Self-starter, willing to take on more responsibility
  • Quick learner
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple/competing tasks and ensure deadlines are met
  • Flexible as days can be unpredictable
  • Superior computer skills (MS Office, excel); knowledge of JONAS Construction Software a plus
  • Able to handle a dynamic and fast-paced environment
