Fire Door Drop

Fire door drop tests are a mandatory safety requirement in Canada

An annual fire door test and inspection is required by Canadian law (*NFDA 80, Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives)

Protect your personnel and your building with a comprehensive Grizzly Door Systems fire door test and inspection.

What is a fire door drop test?

A certified inspector will inspect fire doors for damage to: guides, curtain and end-locks, bottom bar, and operating mechanism.

Rolling door maintenance including lubrication and any necessary minor adjustments

All operating mechanisms (fuse links and release chains/cable) are not painted/coated with dust, grease or debris. (The fuse link will be replaced).

Open and close the door to inspect for any indications of damaged parts

A trained technician will perform an inspection and drop test of all fire door automatic closing features

Fire door deficiencies identified during the pre-drop test inspection should be corrected before the drop test

When subject to drop testing, the door must close completely and rest on the sill. NFPA 80 states that the average closing speed between 6 and 24” per second.

The door must be dropped tested twice – once to verify proper operation and full closure, and a second time drop to verify that the automatic closing device was properly tested.

The test should be monitored by a employee of the establishment tested

Once complete, we will document the drop test on a DASMA Drop Test Form and provide the owner a copy as well as a drop test sticker for the door
